Bill J. Goodwin

Bill J. Goodwin, 76, of Wynne, died on Saturday, August 10, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on December 4, 1947, in Wynne, to the late William and Agnes Martin Goodwin. He was a 1966 graduate of Wynne High School and attended college in Walnut Ridge. Bill married Marjorie Winkler on June 25, 1969, they had four children, Angie, Vicky, Lane and Leigh Ann. He was a devoted longtime member of McElroy Methodist. He always made sure to pass his love and knowledge of his faith to his family. Bill enjoyed model trains, all types of music, "oldies" music, Elvis, talk radio, and had a wide variety collection of albums. Bill could often be found in the evening times with a good cup of coffee, listening to a vintage vinyl in his studio or watching a good western or old movie.
Bill worked hard to provide for his family. He worked for KWYN from 1974-1979 as a licensed radio announcer, which fueled his love for music and collecting radio equipment. He also worked for Kernodle Funeral Home. Bill was the backbone of Kernodle Funeral Home for over 45 years. He was a licensed funeral director, emergency ambulance driver, and the "Kernodle Jack of all Trades". Over the years he served so many friends and families in Cross County. He loved to grab a cup of coffee and talk politics with friends that stopped by. Bill retired from the funeral business in June of 2013, leaving "big shoes" to be filled. His work ethic, humor, and spirit were irreplaceable. Kernodle Funeral Home will forever be grateful for his dedication, wisdom, humor, practical jokes, and love for his community. We couldn't have done it without you, Bill.
Bill is survived by his sweet wife of 55 years, Marjorie Ann Winkler Goodwin of the home, son, Lane Goodwin and wife Candy of Wynne, daughters, Angie Lewallen and partner Scottie Nettles of Paragould, Vicky Goodwin of Jonesboro, Leigh Ann Goodwin of Wynne, grandchildren, Lauren Brooke Vest and partner Matthew McPherson, Brandon, Paige and Maddy Goodwin and great grandchild, Landon "Lovey" Tucker. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Agnes Goodwin, sister, Connie Goodwin and son-in-law, Jerry Lewallen.
Bill requested that funeral services be held privately.
