William “Bill” Douglas Owen, Jr., 77, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Bill was born July 15, 1948, in Borger to William Douglas Owen, Sr. and Wanda Faye Harkins Owen. He married Dorothy Green on May 7, 1971, in Borger. They were married for 54 years. Bill proudly served in the United States Army. While in the Army, he served one tour of duty in Vietnam manning his 50-caliber machine gun in the bed of his trusty gun truck “Sir Charles.” After his enlistment Bill studied and became a respiratory therapist. He soon became the department head at Pampa Memorial Hospital from 1973-1981. Bill then became the owner and operator of Borger Oil Chem until 2024.
Bill enjoyed playing golf and was an avid gun enthusiast. Nothing brought more joy to his life than his family. He always put others first.
He is preceded in death by his father, William Douglas Owen, Sr.; and mother, Wanda Faye Purvis and her husband McNeal.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Owen of Borger; son, Jason Owen and wife Cami of Amarillo; daughter, Erica Kimble and husband Justin of Dallas; grandchildren, Abbi Brock and husband James, Charlotte Kimble, Benjamin Kimble; and great granddaughter, Lennon Brock.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 26, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Borger with Mr. Jake Minton, officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to the Opportunities Center, 930 Illinois St, Borger, Texas, 79007.
