Leon Joseph Owen Jr.

Leon Joseph Owen, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2023. He was born in Prichard, Alabama-the oldest child of Leon Joseph Owen, Sr. and Katie Fallon Owen. He graduated from Vigor High School and attended Springhill College. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Leon met his wife Mildred in Mobile, Alabama and they were married on April 12, 1956. He worked at International Paper Company for over 40 years and retired in 1996. He loved Mardi Gras and was a longtime member of The Mystic Stripers. He was a 33rd degree mason and was a member of Springhill Lodge and Toulmin Lodge No. 875 for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Brown Owen, parents, Leon Joseph Owen, Sr. and Katie Fallon Owen, and brother, Winston Owen.

He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Smith and Tina Kellar (Steven). He is survived by four grandchildren, Ryan Kellar (Andrea), Kelly Pouliot (Greg), Brittany Marshman (Derek) and Melissa Smith. He is survived by four great-grandchildren, Lily Marshman, Aiden Pouliot, Greyson Pouliot and Nolen Marshman. He is also survived by brothers, Wayne Owen and Bill Owen, sister, Mary Bowers, and other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 12 noon. Visitation will be 11am until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
