Billie Joe Hastings, 68, a beloved member of his family and community, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, May 10, 2025 with family by his side.
Billie was born on September 19, 1956 in La Porte, IN to William Frederick and Jurlene (Wireman) Hastings. Billie lived his life in Rolling Prairie, IN and was a graduate of New Prairie High School. Billie and Kelly D. Moore were married in La Porte, IN on November 28, 1981 and together raised two sons.
His professional journey in life began while attending high school and working at Modine Manufacturing Company for the following 29 years, then continued with his own business, Hastings Construction and finished his working career as a machinist at Harrison Engine Service, showcasing his versatility and commitment to excellence in various fields. Billie Joe was a skilled carpenter and individual who took pride in building homes, crafting furniture, beautiful mirrors and anything he laid his hands on. He was an avid man who had a passion for engines and was interested in many things.
His love for Motorcross Racing, vintage Kawasaki and Harley Davidson motorcycles, and embraced the spirit of adventure and the thrill of the ride. He also held a particular fondness for Mopar Muscle cars and NASCAR, further highlighting his devotion to the automotive culture. Billie was a well-respected man amongst everyone and anyone he crossed paths with in life.
Billie Joe Hastings leaves behind a legacy of hard work, passion, and a love for his family that will never be forgotten and will be remembered by all who knew him. His adventurous spirit and lifelong contributions to both his profession and the community will continue to resonate within the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Billie is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kelly Hastings; his sons William Hastings and Jordan (Marissa) Hastings; brother Terry Hastings; and his grandson, Gavin Hastings; all of Rolling Prairie, IN. Billie Joe was preceded in death by his parents William Hastings and Jurlene (Wireman) Hastings.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. Cremation has been selected by the family. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Billie Joe's name.
