Billie June Holderead, 89, went home to the Lord on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Majestic Care in Goshen. Born on October 8, 1935 in Buchanan, MI, Billie was the daughter of Del and Lucille (Yazel) Powell.
Billie married Wayne C. Holderead on June 10, 1955 in Grovertown, IN. They built their loving home in Plymouth and raised their daughter Jo. Wayne preceded her in death on November 5, 2013.
Billie’s first job was working as a telephone operator. Through the years, she worked as a receptionist at Young Door, Plymouth Municipal Airport and with Robert Mannon’s Accounting Firm. Billie was deeply involved in her community, proudly serving on the first Blueberry Festival Committee and participating as a longtime member of the Business and Professional Women group.
A woman of many passions, Billie found joy in gardening, drawing, and reading poetry. Her heart overflowed with love for her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Those who had an opportunity to know Billie knew she would always greet them with a warm smile to brighten their day.
Billie was a faithful woman of God as she was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Plymouth and most recently attended New Song Church. On Sunday mornings, she could often be found in the sanctuary praying before everyone arrived. Billie embodied the phrase “prayer warrior;” often praying for the church, their leaders, her family, and those who were in need.
Billie is survived by her daughter, Jo (Jim) Dick; grandchildren, Stephen (Kim), Daniel, Timothy, Karla (Nick), Emily (Nathan), Julianna (Chris), Annaka (Leon), and Courtney (Bill); nineteen great-grandchildren; along with siblings, Madylon, Sandra, Christy, Gregory, and Nancy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Del and Lucille; husband, Wayne; and great-granddaughter, Adeline Bowers.
