Billy W. Bishop, age 76 of McKenzie, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his residence. His celebration of life service will be at McEvoy Funeral Home at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2025, with Bro. Phillip Halter officiating. Visitation will be after 10:00 am Saturday, the 26th prior to the service at 1:00.
Billy was born October 14, 1948, in Enville, TN, to the late Arlin Bishop and Icie Moore Dyer. He married Marilyn Williams Bishop on June 20, 1970, and she survives in McKenzie.
Billy was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War. He retired from Goodyear as a maintenance welder. In addition to his wife, Billy is also survived by his daughters: Stacy Bishop Fletcher (Chad) of Lexington, TN, and Julie Hester (Brent) of Bethesda, TN; grandchildren: Chase Dowdy (Bethany), Chance Dowdy, Tristin Fletcher, Brenden Fletcher, and Landry Hester; sisters: Evelyn Gage of Bethel Springs, TN, Judy Jones of Lexington, TN, and Cathy Burton of Lexington, TN; brother, Jeff Bishop (Janice) of Mt. Juliet, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Besides his parents, Billy was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Willson, and a brother, Doyle Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or The American Cancer Society, PO Box 1505, Paris, TN 38242.
