It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Cary Bishop, who departed from this world on October 7, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on May 10, 1952, in Henderson County, North Carolina, Michael lived his life with unwavering dedication and passion, leaving a lasting legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
A proud graduate of East Henderson High School, Michael furthered his education at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. He pursued a career as a custom home builder, dedicating over 40 years to crafting homes that became the foundations for countless families. His work was not just a career but a calling, manifesting his commitment to excellence and his love for creating spaces that fostered community and family.
Michael's enthusiasm for life extended beyond his professional endeavors. He had an enduring passion for racing, wrestling, and sports of all kinds. His competitive spirit and love for these activities brought joy and camaraderie to those around him, uniting friends and family alike in shared experiences and cherished memories.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Hannon Bishop and Blanche Case Bishop, as well as his brother, Junior Bishop. Michael's legacy continues through the lives of those he leaves behind: his sisters, Patty Ashley (husband, Jeff) and Janet Stepp (husband, Michael); his brothers, David Bishop (wife, Joann) and Chris Bishop (wife, Myra); his grandson, Eric Stanford; and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward his spirit.
In honor of Michael's life, a graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, October 24, 2025, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his memory and the profound impact he had on their lives.
Michael Cary Bishop's life was a testament to the power of hard work, passion, and familial love. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit endures in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May his journey inspire us all to live with purpose and joy, as he so beautifully did.
