Deborah "Debbie" Ruff, a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and devoted servant of God, entered Heaven's gates on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Mission Hospitals. She was born on August 31, 1958, in Henderson County, North
Carolina. At the time of her passing, Debbie was 67 years old.
Throughout her life, Debbie dedicated herself to serving others. She spent many years at WCCA as an educator to preschool children. She dedicated her life to serving Pardee Hospital for over 20 years as a patient liaison in the Emergency Department.
In addition to her work with the preschool and the hospital, Debbie's pride and joy were her grandchildren. Debbie was always at her grandchildren's school events and cheering them on as her health allowed her to do so. She had a passion for thrift stores and could spot a deal a mile away. She had a love for lighthouses and could often be heard telling the story when her daughter took her to climb a lighthouse.
Debbie's impact extended beyond her professional endeavors. As a member of East Henderson High School class of 1978, she formed lifelong friendships and cherished memories that shaped her character. She treasured the bonds she created with her classmates and valued the lessons learned during her formative years.
Debbie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceding her in death are her father, Fredrick P. Hardin and husband A.W. Ruff that passed on August 16, 2023. She is survived by her mother Becky Hardin of
Hendersonville, North Carolina. Her daughter Laura Ruff, of Flat Rock, North Carolina; her son Justin Ruff, and his wife Tammy, of Fairview, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Preston, Clayton, Mindy, Alyssa and Emily. One sister Katherine Hollifield of Flat Rock and one brother Freddie Hardin of Saluda; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
