David Lancaster "Davey" Steele, Jr., born February 20, 1961, in Henderson County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his residence in Hendersonville, surrounded by his loving family on November 19, 2025, at the age of 64. After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Davey left this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication.
A proud graduate of East Henderson High School in 1979, Davey went on to attend Blue Ridge Community College. His strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish and successfully operate Davey Steele Framing & Siding, Inc., where he worked tirelessly, always guided by a keen sense of common sense and integrity.
Davey was a man of simple pleasures and profound commitments. He cherished moments spent fishing and visiting the beach, where the serenity of nature could match the calm of his gentle spirit. An eternal jokester, he brought joy and laughter to those around him, finding humor even in life's simplest moments.
Devoted to his family, Davey was a dedicated husband to Michelle "Micki" Steele, with whom he shared 29 wonderful years. A family-oriented man, he adored his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He took pride in his role as a father to Kelly "Nikki" Steele, David Lancaster "Bo" Steele, III (Karena), Kathryn Dillin, and Candace Dillin Burchfield (Taylor), imparting wisdom and love to each of them. His grandchildren, Nicholas Keisler Steele, Mercedes Artison, Alanna Watkins, Jammie Watkins II, Austin Carroll, Dalton Steele, Kara Steele, Everleigh Steele, and Emmy Burchfield, along with four great-grandchildren, will forever hold dear the memories they shared with their beloved grandfather.
Davey's love extended to his loyal Rottweiler companion, Maggie, who was ever-present by his side. He found joy in life's "big boy toys," and he embraced every adventure with enthusiasm and an unwavering zest for living.
Preceded in death by his parents, David Lancaster Steele, Sr. and Coleen Tucker Steele, and his sister, Margie Maxwell, Davey is survived by his sisters, Wanda Freeman and husband Ron, Pam Conner and husband Mike, and Jamie Steele, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom carry forward his memory with love.
A celebration of Davey's life will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at the Edneyville Community Center, 15 Ida Rogers Drive,
Hendersonville, NC, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable life he led. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation by visiting www.npcf.us/donate or by clicking HERE.
Though Davey has departed from this earthly realm, his spirit and legacy live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered for the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the strength he embodied throughout his journey.
