Billy Franklin Bowden went to be with The Lord Saturday August 30th 2025
He was born Dec 17, 1933 in Huntington, WV.
Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle. He worked as a Civil Servant Computer Operator in the FTD Division as well as the Avionics Division at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for 19 years.
His passion in life was singing. He sang in the Church Choir first as a tenor and then as a baritone.
He was married to his beloved wife Betty (Meadows) Bowden for 74 years. They were once accused of being chained at the hip. They were as close as 2 people in love could be.
They traveled quite extensively throughout Europe and many, many states in America and they went on many church work camps in Nicaragua, Honduras, Guyana, and Brazil. Billy and Betty were devoted to their faith and attended church all their married life.
They also completed many Volksmarches. This was a 6.2 mile hike. They achieved many medals for completing these hikes.
Mr. Bowden leaves behind his beautiful wife, Betty. Also a daughter Terri (Bowden) Hensley (Mike) and a son David James Bowden. He has four grandchildren, Heather (MacKnight ) Florio, George W MacKnight II, Dana Hensley (deceased) and Troy Bowden.
He has 13 great grandchildren:
Heather's children are Emily, Carl, and Julianne. George's children are Angel (deceased), Mackenzie, Sophia, Adam, Olivia and Adalyn. Dana's children are Leon and Quintin. Troy's children are Isabella and Emerson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Franklin Road Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN on Sunday
September 7th at 2:00pm.
