Billy Joe Derden “Bill” 89, Cumming, Georgia, passed away on August 27, 2024. He was born in Barnesville, Georgia to the late Jaydell and WM Derden on May 24, 1935. He proudly served in the Air Force. He spent many years in Lilburn, Georgia, where he raised his three children, Michael, Mark, and Patty. He was an extremely hard-working man and provided for his family. He loved his sweetheart (wife) Pat with his whole heart along with their 3 children. She was his one true love. He spent hours on end at the ballfield with the boys practicing baseball, catching pitches, taking many of them in the shins. He practiced in the backyard with them as well. He coached his son’s baseball teams and loved watching his boys, as well as the other boys that played on his teams grow up over the years. Bill was a very kind, funny, loving, and generous person. He loved to laugh, crack jokes, eat, and watch sports. He had a couple of favorite sports teams. His favorite college team was, of course the Georgia Bulldogs, GO DAWGS! His favorite NFL football team was the Atlanta Falcons. And his favorite baseball team was the Atlanta Braves. He didn’t miss any of those games. He truly was a wonderful man, and will sorely be missed.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patsy Sue Derden, Patty Derden (daughter), Aubrey Derden (brother), and his parents, Jaydell and WM Derden. He is survived by his sons, Michael Derden and his wife Mary Jo; Mark Derden and his wife Sherry; numerous nieces and nephews, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
