Billy Jacob Theodore Monroe

Billy Jacob Theodore Monroe was born on December 14, 1970 in Knoxville, TN to Aarl Lee and Linda Monroe. He was known to family and friends as Jay. Jay experienced a hard childhood but found a strong bond with his three older siblings growing up in Eastern TN. He had a love for construction, which was his main source of income for many years. However, family was always the most important thing. Jay met the most important person in his life at age 21 and after five months of dating, he married Karen Powell on July 23, 1992. They lived most of their life together in Sweetwater, TN. As time passed, Jay became a man who was harsh at times but his love and understanding always surpassed any harshness or misunderstanding. He may have missed some ball games or school programs but never missed a surgery, the birth of a grandchild, or just a truly bad day where you just need your dad. Jay possessed a strong connection to others and was a mentor and friend to many, from all walks of life. He lived for the spice of life. Food, adventure, loved ones. No matter the bad times, to know Jay was to love and respect him. Jay had immediate losses in his life, Preceded in death by his father, Aarl Lee Monroe. His mother and step-father, Linda and Bobby Moser. His sister, Lisa Sands. Jay himself fought a difficult battle with mesothelioma cancer before passing in peace on March 12, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN surrounded by family. He is now survived by his spouse, Karen Monroe. His sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Reed Newton. His brother, Chris Monroe. His step-mother, Karyn Monroe. His children, Brooklyn Frank, Krystin Sharp, Megan Rouse, Koty Monroe, Jacob Yaw, their spouses and children. Along with many more family and friends. As Jay's wishes were to be cremated, His family is planning a celebration of life this summer in one of his favorite places. A cookout/camping event in Tellico Plains, TN with games, cards, good people, and good food. Thank you for thoughts and prayers at this time
