Mr. Tipps passed from this life on Thursday, May 29, in Henderson. He was born July 6, 1937, in Brachfield to the late Aubrey and Lillian (Harrington) Tipps and was a life-long resident there. Billy Don had a 23 year career with the Texas Department of Transportation where he drove a maintainer. He retired at 55 but would continue working most of the rest of his life as a rancher. He was a calf roper, horse and dog trainer, and worked his herd of cattle. Billy Don loved his horses Freckles, Dandy, and Skip, and his dogs too, especially Little Bit whom he got to spoil for 13 years. Mr. Tipps was a member of Bar None Cowboy Church and was a Past Master of Pine Hill Lodge #95 AF & AM.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Lavelle Tipps, Wayne Tipps, and Dale Tipps.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Nora Tipps of Brachfield; special friends, Tommy Huff, Rylie Huff, and Poppy Huff; sister-in-law, Billie Joyce Tillery and husband Bobby of Tyler; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to Debs English and the staff of Brookdale Henderson.
Pallbearers will be Toby Tipps, Brad Tipps, Kim Orr, Nick Henry, Tommy Huff, and Carl Orr. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Pine Hill Lodge #95 AF & AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, and/or Happy @ Home Healthcare.
