WADESBORO – On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Mr. Billy Dale Trammell, 81, passed away peacefully at Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham with his family at his bedside.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, November 2, 2025, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Swaringen officiating. Interment will follow in Morven Cemetery.

Bill was born November 25, 1943, in Lebanon, TN and was a son of the late Frank Howard Trammell and the late Burnett Vanetta Trammell. He retired from Anson Community College with 26 years of service, teaching food services to inmates at Anson Correctional Institute in Polkton.
He was a member of Cathedral Baptist Church where his church family always looked forward to his famous chicken and dumplings for church dinners. He enjoyed riding his lawnmower and making sure all the leaves were up out of the yard. He also enjoyed having a garden.
Bill enjoyed meeting his friends at Bojangles every morning for breakfast and then making his way to the local Food Lion and Tractor Supply parking lot to park and watch people. He was an avid Carolina Panthers fan.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 41 years, Jill Benton Trammell; his daughter, Tammy Williams Burroughs (Dennis King) of Rockingham; his grandchildren, David Burroughs, Kevin Burroughs, Anna Burroughs, Dylan Williams, Garrett Williams, and Austin Williams; his great-grandchildren, Laila Kelly, Maxton Williams, Lucan Burroughs, Corbin Williams, Sebastian Williams, Jaxon Williams, and Jasper Runyan; his twin sister, Clara Granstaff (Jerry) of Lebanon, TN; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Deborah Taylor (Bruce) and Sharon Morton (Rodney) both of Lilesville, Donnie Benton (Verdia), Joanie Jones (Kenny) and Glenda Lisk (Kenny Brower) all of Wadesboro, and Janet McCormick (Joey) of Peachland and his nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Williams, his brother and sister, Gene Trammell and Betty Graves, and by his sisters-in-law, Kathy Benton and Audrey Lawhon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cathedral Baptist Church, 1215 Old Lilesville Rd., Wadesboro, NC 28170 or to Richmond County Hospice Haven, 1119 N US 1 HWY, Rockingham, NC 28379.
