Age 91 of White House, TN formerly of Lafayette, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 at Skyline Medical Center. He was born June 21, 1931 in Smith County, TN to Sam & Mollie Smith Wilmore. Billy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was the owner/operator of Wilmore and Sons Trucking Company in the sixties and seventies. He later operated the Old Oak Tree Restaurant in Dover, TN on Kentucky Lake. Afterward he owned and operated The Red Lantern Restaurant in White House, TN for many years. Finally, he became manager of the Dickerson Road Nursery until his retirement, just a few short years ago. Billy left a long legacy through his boys, Billy Allen, Jerry Mack and Tony Wilmore. In this legacy, he left behind sixteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. A legacy that will last for generations to come. But just as important are the friends he made during his 91 years of life. Billy was saved as a young boy and was baptized into fellowship at Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church in 1966. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam & Mollie Smith Wilmore; sister, Olean Wilmore Jenkins of Old Hickory; brother, Benton Wilmore of Nashville.. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Vicky Cawthon Wilmore, White House, TN; sons, Billy Allen (Rhoda) Wilmore, Jerry Anthony (Kathy) Wilmore, Malcolm Arnold (Tammy) Wilmore and Tony Alex (Lisa) Wilmore; sister, Elise Archer, all of Lafayette, TN; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 11am in the chapel of Austin & Bel Funeral Home in White House with Pastor Jeremy Sisk officiating. Interment will follow in Cawthon Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers and with military honors. Visitation is planned for Wednesday, August 10, 2022 4-8PM and Thursday, August 11, 2022 9-11AM at the funeral home.
