Thelma Faye Seeley Slate, age 80 of Adams, Tennessee, died Thursday, July 17, 2025 of a blood clot to her heart.. Faye was born September 3, 1944 in Hernando, Mississippi to the late Emerson and Katie (Cleveland) Jarrett. The Jarretts were Church of Christ and a very close-knit family. She was known as the "saint of the family" according to her older sister. Raised in Hernando, Faye graduated from Hernando High School. After graduation, Faye married and had 3 children. Although she worked in her later years at CEI (forming lifelong friendships), her contribution to this life was the love and laughter she brought to so many. Her precious love of family was the purpose for her life. To her family, she was known as Moma, Granny, Memaw, Aunt Faye and "Thelmer" (a loving nickname some of the family gave her). Faye loved music, especially Elvis Presley and Conway Twitty, and she loved living in the country. She was feisty, fun and kind and was the rock of her family. The family says their get-togethers always looked the same; Faye full of laughter while dancing in the kitchen and serving banana pudding, the favorite of the family.
Preceded in death by her parents, Faye is survived by 2 daughters, Tammy Atkins of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Kristie (Steve) Jackson, of Cedar Hill, Tennessee; and a son, Dan (Emily) Seeley of Buchanan, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, Kara Mischke, Krista Prince, Katelyn Atkins, Alexander Jackson, Britt Jackson, Brooke Jackson, Lilly Jackson, Erica Lamke, Shelby Seeley, Logan Seeley, Wesley Seeley and Emma Seeley; 21 great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Jarrett of Kansas City, Missouri; and 2 sisters, Della Savage and Mary Lee Pirtle, both of Hernando, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025 in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home, 509 Walnut Street, Springfield, Tennessee. Visitation with the family will be 10:30 am to service time on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Bellwood Cemetery in Adams, Tennessee with Faye's grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
