Blake William Good - dedicated husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, cousin and friend - passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones in Oxford, MI on Friday October 13, 2023.
Blake was born to Norman and Sue Good in Harrisville, MI on August 8, 1961. He graduated from Alcona High School in 1979 before attending Ferris State University, where he studied Automotive Design. After he graduated Blake started his 40+ year career as a designer with Chrysler, where he eventually lived out his dream of designing engines with the SRT Drag Pak Racing team. Respected by coworkers not only for his impressive design work, he also anchored the Chrysler Club karate program for over two-decades.
Blake met the love of his life Christine in 1997. They married on June 13, 1998 becoming a family of four. Blake, Christine, and their cherished daughters Ashley and Kristie spent their years together building a lifetime of memories.
Through the years Blake found a deep passion for practicing karate, earning an impressive fourth-degree black belt in karate and first degree in modern arnis. Working with youth at Mejishi Martial Arts was a huge source of pride for him. It was the honor of his life to be a part of the endlessly supportive community at the studio.
Blake also treasured time spent on construction projects with his son-in-law Jeremy, or anyone else who needed an extra hand. He loved visiting Harrisville and keeping his fathers 1944 Ford tractor running with his Uncle Art's expert guidance. Much of his time was spent swapping stories and keeping memories alive with his aunts, uncles and cousins when he visited his hometown.
Being a grandfather, or as his grandchildren lovingly called him "Gramps", came very naturally to Blake. He loved to introduce them to his favorite things such as a big Sunday breakfast, growing pumpkins and corn (for the deer to ultimately devour before they could harvest) and keeping family holiday traditions alive.
Blake inspired those around him to move through life with humor, joy and most importantly kindness. His ability to see the good in everyone and knack for making others feel truly seen was honorable. It would be fair to say he never met a stranger in his life.
Blake is survived by his wife, Christine; their children Ashley (Jeremy) Damaske, and Kristie Good: Two grandchildren Adelia and Ezra Damaske.
Blake showed great bravery at the face of his cancer diagnosis. His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of Troy Beaumont, and the skilled surgeons at University of Michigan who took a chance on him which provided us two more precious years of memories.
In his memory, donations can be made to Harrisville Train Depot, which is a cause near and dear to his heart. It is a wonderful way to honor his love and dedication to his hometown of Harrisville.
Please feel free to share your personal memories and photos of Blake here for his family and friends to enjoy and reminisce over.
A memorial visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 3-6 PM with a memorial service starting at 6 PM.
