Blanche Farber
Blanche Farber of Ewing, NJ, passed away on August 19, 2025 at the age of 100.
Born on March 26, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY to immigrant parents Charles and Jennie Burdman, she moved with her family to Trenton at the age of three. Blanche attended the Trenton Public Schools and graduated from Trenton High School in 1942. That same year she married Hyman "Red" Farber. Their partnership of 59 years was marked by love, hard work and dedication, even as Red served his country in the Army during World War II.
After living in Trenton and Hamilton, Blanche and Red made their home on Theresa Street in Ewing, where Blanche resided for 72 years, raising their children, Robert and Gail, and contributing to the fabric of the community.
Blanche's professional journey included service at Eastern Aircraft during the war and a 37-year career with the Trenton Board of Education, where she retired as a budget accountant to care for her beloved husband.
Deeply committed to her community, Blanche was active in Ewing senior clubs and the Jewish Community Center, honored as Woman of the Year at her synagogue, Adath Israel Congregation, and later cherished her role as a senior star grandparent at Lore School, where she found joy in mentoring young students. This past March she was honored by Mayor of Ewing Township, Bert Steinman, with a proclamation to "recognize and celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of Mrs. Blanche Farber on the occasion of her 100 birthday."
Blanche's life has been rich with family, including her three grandsons and five great-grandchildren. She enjoyed lively conversations, sports, mahjong, Scrabble and technology. Blanche is remembered for her humor, compassion and spirited nature. She embodied the values that strengthen and inspire our community.
Blanche was predeceased by her husband Hyman "Red" Farber, her parents Charles and Jennie Burdman, her sister Marian Bash, and her son in law John Holling.
She is survived by her children Robert (Annette) Farber and Gail Holling, three grandchildren Craig, Justin (Sarah) and Gavin, five great grandchildren, her sisters Gilda Dubroof and Yollette Frey, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial are Monday, August 25 at 10:30am at Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, 535 Eggerts Crossing Road, Ewing, NJ. Shiva will be observed at the Holling Residence on Monday following the burial with a minyan at 7:00 pm, and on Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 3:00pm.
Memorial contributions are respectfully requested to Greenwood House, 53 Walter St, Ewing, NJ, and to Adath Israel Congregation, 1958 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ.
