Mr. Bob K. Burt, 96, of Pensacola passed away on the 23rd of October peacefully at his residence with his son present.
He was adopted by George and Martha Burt in 1926. His parents moved from Chickasha, Oklahoma in 1936, during the "Dust Bowl Era" to Winton, California. Both George and Martha began careers as barbers and eventually opened their own barber shop. In fact, Martha was one of the first certified female barbers in California.
Bob graduated in 1943, from Livingston High School. He worked with his father supplementing the family income by owning and working a dairy farm, a vineyard, and a walnut orchard.
Bob was drafted by the Army in 1943 and served honorably in WWII and the Korean War until 1946. After he left the service, he had various jobs throughout his life; owner and deep-sea diver of a deep-sea salvage company and an auto mechanic. He eventually was hired by Continental Can Company where he became a Division Technical Service Representative. Bob met and married his wife Doris (Dodie) April 30th, 1960. Bob retired after 33 years from Continental Can Company. He and Dodie then moved from Chicago, Illinois to Pensacola, Florida in 1986.
After his retirement, Bob was a First Aid and CPR instructor for Baptist Hospital and the National Safety Council; a defensive driver instructor for the National Safety Council. He also was an instructor for lift truck courses and confined space courses for various industries in Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. He volunteered for years driving veterans from Pensacola to Biloxi, MS and back for medical appointments.
Mr. Burt was a Lutheran and went to his church until his health changed.
Bob belonged to various organizations; The American Legion, The Elks, but he most enjoyed being a 32nd Degree Mason. Bob joined the Hadji Komics Clown Unit and was in multiple parades and was involved in fundraising activities for Shriners Children Hospital.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years Doris (Dodie) M. Burt. He had one child, George Burt (Yvonne), two grandsons, Jonathon (Amanda) Burt and Christopher (Erika) Burt, along with six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Bob was a very special family friend. He & my Dad (Jimbo) enjoyed many years of clowning together at Hadji & other events. They lived to serve others & bring joy with their clown antics.

Bob & Dodie were cherished friends of my parents for numerous years. They are reunited now.

Our sympathy and prayers to the family. Bob was proud of you all.
