It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bob Charles Smith, who left us on August 18, 2025, at the age of 80. Bob passed away peacefully in hospice in West Palm Beach, Florida, with loved ones by his side.
Born in Minneapolis, MN, on February 8, 1945, Bob was a man of many moods, who had a heart full of love for those he cared for. He found joy in the simpler things in life, a cup of coffee, a good joke, and was always an animated storyteller. Bob was a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings and lover of the band Pink Floyd, finding peace and inspiration in their music.
Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he demonstrated his dedication and sense of duty. After his military service, he worked as a welder and a truck driver.
Bob is survived by his beloved daughter, Tamera Anne Smith-Fitzgerald, her life partner, John Strickland, her children, Jessa Gramenz, Lacey Benedict and husband Brent Benedict, and Gavin Fitzgerald. He is also survived by his daughter, Wendy Gard, her former husband, Charlie Gard II, and their children, Shelby McDowell, Cassidy Lopez, and Charles Gard III. He is also survived by his five great grandchildren and his beloved siblings, Greg Smith, Lynn Mooney, Scott Smith, and Sheldon Smith. And, last, but certainly not least, he is survived by his beloved cat Rootin' Tootin' Smith.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Gladys Evelyn Smith, and his father, Bob Lewis Smith.
A celebration of life will be planned for the Fall, with details to be announced.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
