Robert "Bob" Stokesbary, age 59, of Newton, Iowa and formerly of Nevada, Iowa, passed away on the morning of April 12, 2025 at Harmony of Marshalltown.
Memorial services for Bob will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 beginning at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Memorials in Bob's name may be directed to his family for a later designation. Robert Allen Stokesbary was born on March 22, 1966 in Story County, Iowa. He was the second of four children born to Allen and Nancy (Kitchen) Stokesbary. He grew up in Nevada, Iowa and attended school at Nevada High School.
Robert was a loving father to three children, Cheyenne, John and Alyssa. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, going fishing and camping, working on jigsaw puzzles, and watching sports especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Vikings. Bob worked for Progress in their maintenance department following a stroke that he suffered in 2013 while living in Newton, Iowa before moving to Marshalltown to be closer to family. Bob was an avid animal lover and was especially fond of his loving cat Holly who became more of a support animal to him.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his children, Cheyenne Stokesbary, John Stokesbary and Alyssa (Blake Young) Weeces; his grandchildren, Anthony Finn, Yui Young and Hinata "Hina" Young; his siblings, Paul Stokesbary, Ronnie "Ron" (Chandra) Stokesbary and Donny "Don" (Lori) Stokesbary alongside numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Nancy Stokesbary along with his paternal and maternal grandparents.
