Suzanne Sabina (Day) Peters, 80, of the state of Iowa, died in her private room at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown where she lived with friends and caregivers since August of 2022.
She was born in Nevada in 1944 to Ruth E. (Boyd) Day and Raymond J. Day and grew up on the family farm within view of the K-12 rural schoolhouse in Shipley where she attended school through her sophomore year of high school. She then graduated from Nevada High School, continuing her education with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education at The University of Iowa.
Suzanne was a devoted and beloved elementary teacher and supervisor for over 30 years. She was a source of love, joy, and wonder to all who knew her.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her husband John M. Peters, mother Ruth E. (Boyd) Day, and father Raymond J. Day. She is survived by her daughter Sabina S. Peters-Daywater and son-in-law Brandon L. Rutter-Daywater both of Northfield Minnesota, and her brothers Dr. David Day and Ronald Day.
The Celebration of Life and Gaelic-style Wake for Suzanne will be held from 1 PM on Sunday, April 27th, 2025 through sunrise the next day at the Shipley schoolhouse. The service will be held from 3-4pm and will be available through zoom by request; sign up at https://bit.ly/suzanne-service-zoom. Social time will be at the Shipley schoolhouse before and after the service with some light refreshments. Anyone attending later in the evening is welcome to participate in a potluck dinner.
