Bob Walden, 74, passed away on October 19, 2024. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a Papa, as well as a beloved family member and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bob was born on July 19, 1950 in Polk County, Missouri, where he spent his formative years. Bob attended primary and secondary schools in Bolivar, Missouri. He also attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar. After graduating college, Bob taught biology for one year before beginning his military career. Bob first joined the U.S. Army, where he served two years as a medic in Germany. After completing his Army service, Bob enjoyed a brief civilian life before enrolling in the U.S. Navy Officers Candidate school. Upon completion, Bob served the U.S. Navy as a Navigator and a Surface Warfare officer. Bob spent 10 years on active duty. He then remained in the U.S. Navy Reserves for the following 20 years until his retirement date. Bob received numerous commendations for his military work and achieved the rank of Captain.
While serving in the Navy Reserves, Bob also worked full time at the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch in Brighton, Missouri. Bob was their Operations Director for 20 years before his retirement.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Hazel Walden.
Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jean; his son, James and wife, Sarah; his sister, Deborah Walden; his step-children: Dawn Castillon and husband, Kip; Autumn Webb and husband, Luke; and Matthew Done and wife, Jessica; as well as grandchildren, Chloe, Sam, Zachary, Olivia, Bee, and Graham. Bob is also survived by many extended family members, as well as dear friends made throughout his life.
Bob's funeral service will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 504 W. Walnut Street, Ozark, Missouri at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024 followed by a military funeral honors ceremony at 1:00 p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201. S. Southwest Road, Springfield, Missouri.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Bob Walden to the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch or to your favorite Veterans charity organization.
