Bobbie Jean Brown, daughter of Robert A. and Eva Bridgette (Burke) Smith, was born December 21, 1929, in LaHabra, California and departed this life, to enter her Heavenly home on May 11, 2025, in Richland, Missouri, at the age of ninety-five years.
Bobbie made a profession of faith in Christ early in life and lived her life accordingly. She was a longtime, active and faithful member of High Point Baptist Church, where she also played the piano and organ, well in to her nineties, as long as her health allowed. Bobbie loved her church family and appreciated their love, support and continued prayers over the years.
On Christmas Day of 1947, Bobbie was united in marriage with her forever love, Vadie Brown. To this union was born five children, all surviving. Prior to Vadie's passing on November 17, 2015, they had shared nearly sixty-eight years of laughter and memories, triumphs and tears, side by side.
Bobbie was the epitome of homemaker. She took great pride in making her house a home. The needs of her family, always came first. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing, embroidery and quilt making. In fact, prior to her ninetieth birthday, she made a point to make a quilt for every grandchild and great-grandchild. It was her gift of love. She also enjoyed canning and tending to her flowers.
Bobbie is survived by five children, Ricky Brown and Susie Ruble of Stoutland, MO, Debra Sherrer of Richland, MO, Linda Richert and her husband Bobby North of Lebanon, Betty Gideon and her husband Cliff Potthoff, also of Lebanon, MO and Lisa Gideon and her husband Steve of Montreal MO; eight grandchildren, Jamie Goforth and his wife Jamie, Jeremy Goforth and his wife Holly, Randy Sherrer and his wife Carolina, Dana Gideon Concepcion and her husband Jay, Lee Gideon, Beth Gideon, Brian Gideon and his wife Donnie, Kara Gideon Gordon and her husband Charlie and Cory Gideon and his wife Lexie; nineteen great-grandchildren, Jackson Goforth, Ella and Jag Goforth, Vivian and Eli Sherrer, Madalyn Concepcion, Evan and Keler Gideon, Kaige, Kieley and Kenadey Gideon, Baker and Smith Gideon, Cooper and Kensley Gordon, Ashton Ruble, Kota Ruble and Owen and Oliver Potthoff; the Texas girls, London and Livi North; one sister, Betty Nadine Lane of Wheatland, MO; one brother, Billie J, Smith and his wife Janet of Jefferson City, MO; other relatives and many friends.
Those preceding her in death include her parents; her husband, Vadie, on November 17, 2015; one granddaughter, Emily Gideon; three sons-in-law, Jim Goforth, Alan Richert and Randall Sherrer.
Bobbie was so many things to so many people. She was an animal lover and could not start her day without biscuits and gravy. She lived her life with purpose and determination. She loved her family unconditionally. Although we will miss her here, our loss was certainly Heaven's gain.
Memorials have been suggested to High Point Cemetery.
Donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel's Colonial Chapel, P.O. Box 948, Lebanon, MO 65536.
