"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith" II Timothy 4:7
Bobby Ray McMillan was born to the late Jerry McMillan and Bertha Lee Inman McMillan on July 16, 1955. After the death of his mother, he was loved and cared for by the late Ella Beatrice McMillan. Bobby departed this earthly life on February 24, 2022. Bobby accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined Hilly Branch Baptist Church.
Bobby graduated from Fairgrove High School in 1973 and soon after, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served several years and was honorably discharged in 1976. After returning home he enrolled in Robeson Community College and earned a degree in carpentry.
Bobby worked for Fleetwood Mobil Home in Pembroke. He was later promoted and transferred by the company to Mississippi as Quality Control Supervisor. He never hesitated to let one know that "A mobile home was not a Fleetwood until he said so". He also worked as a long-distance truck driver for McElroy Trucking Company for several years until his health began to fail.
Bobby returned to North Carolina in 1997 and united in holy matrimony with Tilda McDonald in 1999. Returning full circle back to his farming roots he loved to plant and watch the garden grow. He loved planting with his hands in the rich soil and always planted lots of vegetables for sale and some for just giving away. Bobby was happiest when he was on his tractor, and he got joy from gathering the harvest and taking it to market. Bobby was a hard worker. He never met a stranger and loved meeting and talking with people. One of his favorite statements was "It is what it is"
Gardening, creating and building and driving trucks made him happy but nothing gave him more pleasure and was closer to his heart than his love for Masonry. He held the following positions: Past Master, Antioch Lodge, 113. Past Excellent High Priest Duncan J. Whitted # 80; Past Thrice Illustrious Master, King Saul Council #6; Past Eminent Commander, James L. French Commandery #16; Past Commander-In-Chief, Carpenters Consistory #164; Honorary Past Potentate, OUDA Temple #147; Grand Inspector General 33 – United Supreme Council Knight; Knight York Cross of Honor; Eminent Grand Sentinel; Tarheel Grand Commander.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, his son Kenneth McMillan and three brothers.
