Bobby Petty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Welch Funeral Home on Mar. 20, 2025.
Bobby Lee Petty of Lake Cherokee Tx passed over peacefully on March 11th 2025 in The Woodlands Texas at 92 years of age.
He was born in Amarillo, Texas on December 23, 1932 to Raymond and Winifred Petty. At an early age the family relocated to Phoenix Arizona, where Bob excelled in Academics, Scouting, and was a State Track and Field champion at Phoenix Union High School. It was there that he met the love of his life Carolyn Susan Steele.
Soon after graduation they married and moved to Hawaii where Bob served in the Navy as a submariner during The Korean War. When his service ended the two returned to Phoenix where Bob received his business degree from Arizona State University.
Bob had a long and successful career as an Aerospace executive in progressive assignments which moved the family frequently across the US. He loved God and served his church in many ways. A long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church in Longview Texas he deeply cherished his duties in pastoral care and leading bible studies. Bob would give you the shirt off his back, and if asked by anyone to walk a mile, would gladly go with them two. He loved his family. He loved fishing, both Saltwater and on Lake Cherokee. He was also known to pull a mean inner-tube full of kids and test the limits of a jet-ski.
Bob and Carolyn were married for 65 years when in 2021 she was called to be at home with the Lord. Bob is survived by their five children: Linda Wilcox (John), Steven (Laurie), Jeffrey (Robyn), Raymond (Ellen) and Catheryn Rheinheimer(Alan). Bob is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 32 Great-grandchildren, and 1 Great-great grandchild. We all celebrate him and a life well lived! "Well done, good and faithful servant."
A Life Celebration Funeral Service will be held for Mr. Bobby Lee Petty on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Lakeport.
When tomorrow starts without me, Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name, And took me by the hand,
The Angel said my place was ready, In Heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind, All those I dearly love,
But when I walked through Heaven's Gates, I felt so much at home,
For God looked down, smiled at me, And told me "Welcome Home."
So when tomorrow starts without me, Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart.
