Robert H. Pinkerton III, 68, of Worden, Illinois passed away on August 19, 2025, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Illinois after a long battle with diabetes and kidney failure.
Robert (Bobby) was born August 7, 1957, in East. St. Louis, Illinois to Robert Pinkerton Jr, and Marlene, nee Louvier, Pinkerton and his parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Veda M. Pinkerton.
Robert graduated in 1977 from BTHS East, Belleville Illinois. After graduation, he was a truck driver for family owned 4-Way trucking, and a retiree of Deans in O'Fallon, IL. He was a volunteer with the American Red Cross; he enjoyed model trains and was a ham radio enthusiast. After retirement, his biggest love was camping where he made great friends. His passion grew strong, where he enjoyed his positions as guard shack host at Honey Bend Campground and later Lazy Days Campground.
During his battle with diabetes and kidney failure, he was taken care of by his beloved daughter Christa with support from Sheila Allen and grandchildren Chelsey and Devin.
He is survived by his children Gina (Mario) Trice of Worden, IL; Christa (Ryan) Shutt of Worden, IL, and Robert (Alesha) Pinkerton of Collinsville, Illinois; Seven Grandchildren, Mario Trice, Collin Trice, Chelsey Shutt (Dylan O'Brian), Devin Walker, Logan Pinkerton, Ean Pinkerton and Bella Pinkerton. Also survived by siblings Debbie Madeline (Al Jones) of Mt. Olive, IL; Mark (Kim) Pinkerton of Bethalto, IL; Karen (Ron) Bickel of Fairview Heights, IL; Vicky (Kenneth) Biermann of Conroe, TX and Michael Pinkerton of Plainview IL. Also, numerous nieces and nephews who were special to him, and best friend Sheila Allen.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-6 pm on Saturday Sept 20th, at Sons of the American Legion Post 564 - 237 W. Wall St. Worden, Illinois. A prayer service will be held at 3pm with Pastor John Hessel officiating.
