Mr. Pollan passed away on Monday, February 17, in Lawton.
Bobby was born on December 21,1939 in
Lawton, OK to Ishmael Vern and Nobie Odessa (Ledford) Pollan. He grew up in Fletcher and Lawton where he graduated from Lawton High School in 1958. He had a notable, All-American awarded, basketball career at Cameron University (1958-59) and the University of Houston (1960-61). He taught classes and coached basketball at Eisenhower High School in Lawton (1966-1971). He later worked in the oil business, sold insurance, contracted home improvement work, and was the golf pro at the Lawton Municipal course until he retired. Family always came first for Bobby and no sacrifice was ever too great when it came to those he loved. He was an incredible father, husband, brother, uncle, friend, teacher, and mentor to so many that benefited from his values, patience, and wisdom during his time with us.
Some of his most notable life events/accomplishments include his storied college basketball career between 1958-1961, his marriage to Donna Kay Rusk in 1960, the birth of his sons in the 1960's, his marriage to Judy Gayle Woods in 1985, and his induction into the Cameron University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017. Bobby most enjoyed time with family and friends. He loved the tradition of "the Pollan Boys" breakfast, dancing with JuJu, golf and more golf ("Going to hit some balls"), and watching sports and his "cowboy" shows on television.
He is survived by a large family that he loved so much including his wife, Judy Gayle Pollan, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Robin Pollan, of Carrollton, TX, Bret and Daphne Pollan, of Lawton, and Jamie and Michelle Beaty, of Lawton; his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Dennis Brown, of Lawton; two grandchildren, Liam Bobby Pollan, Kalib Pollan and Jordan Reyes, of Lawton; two great-grandchildren, Angel and Maya Pollan, also of Lawton; brothers in law, Keith Woods and wife, Debbie, and Steven Woods and wife, Lorie; sister in law, Vicki Woods Wampler; nieces and nephews, Pam and Jim Casey of McKinney, TX; Dana and Denny Stubbs of Granbury, TX; Keith and Shannon Bryant of Pilot Point, TX; Lori and Rick Franz of Lawton; David and Dianne Malone of Lawton; Julie and Dennis Sanders of Sterling; Lynn and Steve Bentley of Fletcher; Dawn and Randy Schnakenberg of Windsor, MO, Shane and Jodie Everett, Jamie Lynn Carr and her children, Jesse and Julia, Randi Nichole and Jason Reed and their children, Chas and Cara, Steve and Kyle Mauldin and daughter, Keira, Toni and Michael Martinez and son Jordan, Nick and Kari Clemens, Marcus, Hailee, and Kayla and Samantha and Zach Browner, Brayden, Brooklynn, Bryan, and Kingston, Briana and her partner, Jordan and their son Rowan; his very best friend, Larry and Suzanne Ray of OKC; along with numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
