CHITTENDEN-Bonita "Bonnie" L. Benoit, 81, of Chittenden died Thursday evening January 2, 2025 at the Pines in Rutland.
She was born on Sep 16, 1943 in Randolph the daughter of Donald and Ellow (Wakefield) Fleming.
Bonnie grew up in Hancock and graduated from the Rochester High School where she played basketball, making the Allstate team. She then attended Lyndon State College.
She married John "Jack" Benoit on Oct 5, 1963.
Bonnie had been employed by Proctor Gas, Sanel Auto Parts, and then as a paraeducator at the Otter Valley High School prior to her retirement.
She loved camping, dancing and was always known as the "Life of the party."
Bonnie will be greatly missed by many, especially her husband Jack of 61 years. Daughter's Karen Iosue (Doug), Kristi Menter (John), son Kevin Benoit, 4 grandchildren Tyler Iosue (Sarah), Brodie Richards (Dan), Garrette Menter, Leighton Menter, great granddaughter Annie Iosue, and her lifelong friend, Eva Jesso.
She was survived by sister Fay Leavitt (Dudley) and predeceased by 3 brothers, Howard, Douglas, and Daniel. Bonnie was also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the many Rutland area VNA staff that contributed special care for many years while Bonnie lived at home.
We would also like to thank the Pines for their services over the past years.
Arrangements are with the Aldous Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph.
