Bonnie Nelms, age 80, of Pennington, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at her home surrounded by family. Bonnie was born July 17, 1945 in Gainesville, Texas to parents, Homer Earl Jobe and Mauna Lee Arms Jobe and graduated from Texas City High School. She worked in the banking business as a bank teller and was also a loan secretary. Bonnie was a longtime member of the Pennington Baptist Church and served as secretary for the First United Methodist Church in Crockett for many years. Most of all, Bonnie loved being a stay at home mother who enjoyed caring for her family.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Heath Nelms and wife, Tricia of Katy, Karen Avery of Pennington, Jason Nelms of Pennington, Jennifer Due and husband, Jason of Groveton; grandchildren, Casidhe Leonard, Dustyn Leonard, Cierrah Menees, Steven Nelms, Bryan Nelms, Rylie Due, Jasper Due, Memphis Nelms, Ainsley Nelms; great-grandchildren, James, Norah, Alex, Yana, Emilia, Samuel and Apollo; brothers, James Jobe and wife, Lucy of Vacaville, CA, Jon Jobe and wife, Michelle; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Herman Nelms; parents, Homer and Mauna Jobe; mother-in-law, Nolia Nelms.
Funeral services for Bonnie F. Nelms will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025 at the Pennington Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Pennington Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
