Bonnie Sue Silva (née Malson), 64, passed away on April 3, 2025. Born on November 1, 1960, in Denver, Colorado, Bonnie lived a life marked by compassion, adventure, and deep devotion to her family.
Raised in Colorado, Bonnie graduated from John F. Kennedy High School and later attended the University of Colorado, where she earned her bachelor's degree. She went on to complete a master's degree in counseling, laying the foundation for a fulfilling career spent guiding and encouraging young people. As a high school counselor and diving coach, Bonnie made a lasting impact on the lives of many students.
Bonnie was known for her vibrant personality and adventurous heart. She found joy in exploring new places and experiences-whether spending time at the family cabin in Estes Park, traveling across the U.S., or discovering the beauty of Greece and Italy in retirement. In 2023, she moved to Hilton Head Island to begin a new chapter.
An avid golfer and enthusiastic pickleball player, Bonnie found joy in staying active and connecting with others through shared interests. Her love for animals was ever-present throughout her life; and she cared for many beloved pets over the years.
Above all else, Bonnie cherished her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Kindra Merrill and son-in-law Ian Merrill; her grandsons Ollie and Nolan; her son Riley Hodgell; and her daughter Kassidy Silva. Her generous spirt, laughter, and compassion will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Edna Jo Malson, as well as her grandmother Marian Petticrew.
A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held in Colorado at a date still to be determined.
May Bonnie's memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
