It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Cherie Elizabeth Morton, who passed away on April 6, 2025, at the age of 59. She was born on October 6, 1965, in Orange, New Jersey, and while she spent most of her life in New Jersey, she recently resided in Bluffton, South Carolina.
Cherie was known for her unwavering kindness, infectious sense of humor, and boundless generosity. She consistently put the needs of others before her own, touching countless lives with her selfless spirit. Her deep and abiding faith in the Lord was the guiding force in her life, and she followed Him with fierce devotion.
Her greatest passion in life was her children, Krista and Raymond. She was immensely proud of them, and they were truly her whole world. Cherie poured her heart and soul into nurturing and supporting them in every way. Her interests extended to helping others through music, faith, and offering unwavering encouragement and support, no matter the circumstance.
Cherie was a successful professional musician, captivating audiences with her talent on the keyboards and her beautiful singing voice, most notably as a cherished member of the band "The Crosstones." Beyond her musical talents, she was the most patient, kindest, and funniest homeschool teacher to her two children, Krista and Raymond, fostering their love of learning with grace and humor. She was also a dedicated and loving wife to her husband, Ray, their bond a testament to enduring love and partnership. Prior to her move to Bluffton, Cherie also enjoyed a successful career managing the DFJ dance studio.
Cherie is survived by her loving husband, Ray Morton; her cherished daughter, Krista Morton-Kill; her beloved son, Raymond Morton; and their spouses Dylan and Grace; and brother, Joseph Caldeira Jr. and wife Cheryl.
A celebration of Cherie's life will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Ocean Grove Church, located at 80 Embury Avenue, Ocean Grove, NJ. A service will begin at 2:30 PM. Following the celebration, friends and family are invited to a gathering at Odyssey Coffee 63 Main Street in Ocean Grove from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM for light refreshments and coffee.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her loving heart, her joyful spirit, and the profound impact she had on all who knew her.

I am lost for words and my heart breaks with the news of Cherie´s passing. I met her through my private community for content creators and Cherie was a such a positive light from day one. She always carried a bright beam of encouragement and such a loving spirit that made every meeting and encounter feel so warm. Cherie was such an attentive student of her craft and eager to learn, regardless of how "late to the party" society would try to convince her that she was, and I love that about her. She wore her love of the Lord on her sleeve and after a difficult situation that I experienced, she gave me the most uplifting words of advice and affirmation. That was the last time I spoke to Cherie, not long before the Lord brought her home to His kingdom. It´s very fitting that this is the last memory I have with her as it´s a reflection of how much of a light she was/is to the world and the people within her proximity. I send my love and prayers to her family and pray for God to surround all her loved ones with supernatural peace and spiritual restoration.
