Obituary of Borghild Yvonne Geolat
Borghild Y. Geolat (nee Gemsey), 90, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born on July 7, 1934, she grew up in Montevideo, Minnesota and lived her later years in greater Minneapolis. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1952 and went on to attend the Northwestern School of Nursing, receiving her RN degree in 1955. She married Joseph Geolat (Joe) of Belleville, Illinois on October 15, 1955.
She enjoyed traveling, lived on each coast, in Hawaii and Europe. After Joe's retirement she continued to travel with him to Alaska, Australia, Turkey, Egypt, Greece, and China.
Borg was preceded in death by her parents Julius (Jim) and Elianna Gemsey of Montevideo and her sister Geraldine Underdahl (nee Gemsey).
She was survived by her husband Joseph, four children Sharon (Daryl) Brown, Kimberly (William) Lieb, Steven (Nancy) Geolat and Keith (Cheryl) Geolat, nine grandchildren Matthew (Susan) Brown, Jennifer (James) Hintz, Cassie Libby, Adam (Courtney) Geolat, Kyle (Rachel Johnston) Geolat, Nick Geolat, Brandy (Tony) Klindworth, Lexi (Carter) Gnotke, Amber Geolat, five great grandchildren Aubrey Libby, Levi Libby, Silas Klindworth, Bridgette Klindworth, Brooks Geolat, her brother Lowell (Carole) Gemsey, several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at 2:00 PM
St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 13600 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie, Minnesota
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at 1:00 PM

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Borg Geolat's memory to St Jude Children's Research Hospital at the following link. https://www.stjude.org/donate/
A private interment will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
