Brad R. Richardson

Brad R. Richardson passed away peacefully at home after a long and valiant fight with cancer. He was preceded in death by Father Glen Edgar Richardson and Mother Janet Joan White, sister Cathy Roberts, and brother Brian Richardson. Brad is survived by his loving wife Melinda and devoted children Alexx and Sydney. The heart of Brad's passion-driven life was his family. Everything he did, he did for them. It all started when he met a beautiful eighteen-year-old girl, named Melinda, who was his match in every way. The essence of their relationship was that they made the perfect team. Melinda's laidback personality complemented Brad's driven, passionate approach to everything, especially fostering his children's creative personalities. He was always there for them, no matter what.
Brad's legacy will be long-lived and far-reaching. A beloved teacher and mentor to many, Brad always extended himself beyond classroom requirements. His investment in students was reflected in numerous ways, one of which was participation in school food and toy drives. Brad took the competition, and the cause, very seriously, and his Building Construction Technology students at R.G. Drage Career Technical Center would often collect the highest quantity of items. He also believed in connecting students to real-world experiences through field trips and service opportunities and went out of his way to support them whenever they asked for help.
His selfless actions and passion for helping others manifested in his volunteerism associated with numerous fraternal and non-profit organizations. He carried memberships in Masonic Clinton Lodge #47, Knights Templar, Scottish Rite, and was associate bethel guardian of Bethel #31. Brad enjoyed ringing bells for the Salvation Army every holiday season as part of his Masonic service. His love of art led to his volunteerism at the Massillon Museum, where his family members were also a staple. Brad served two six-year terms on the board and was chair of the building and grounds committee. He provided valuable insight and leadership during the Museum's major construction and renovation project.
Considered the hardest working and most disciplined person by everyone who knew him, he was also known as the kindest and most compassionate. An ardent supporter of the arts, Brad befriended nearly every artist in Stark County and rarely missed an arts event.
Brad graduated from Canton South High School in 1983 and worked for Richardson Construction company years before starting his teaching career at R.G. Drage. Whether taking his dog Hero on long walks, honing his woodcarving skills, or exercising, Brad was always active.
Clinton Lodge #47 will have a Masonic Service at 10:30 am. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 11 am – 2 pm at the Paquelet Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will begin at 2 p.m. Following the service we will have a Celebration of Life with refreshments at the Masonic Clinton Lodge#47: 333 2nd Street SW, Massillon,OH 44646.
