Brady Joel Johnston, age 68, passed away on May 5, 2025, surrounded by love and leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and a life lived with purpose and heart.
Brady was the kind of man who never sat still-unless he was in his favorite recliner, of course. He was always up early, ready to take charge, and proud to be the "supervisor" on any project. Whether it was helping with a home repair or offering his famous advice, he always had a plan-and usually a joke to go along with it. His sense of humor was unmatched, and his quick wit brought laughter wherever he went.
A devoted husband to Marsha for 18 beautiful years, Brady was an incredible partner in every sense of the word. He was a loving stepdad, a true friend, and a constant source of support. Above all, he was the best Pawpaw-his love for his grand-babies was boundless, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He had a passion for the outdoors, often found fishing, checking all 17 of his trail cameras, or using his beloved Bass Pro discount. He was a diehard LSU and Dallas Cowboys fan, always ready for game day. Brady had a special place in his heart for his Z28 and was a proud antique junkie, always hunting for the next hidden treasure.
He never missed his daily McDonald's sausage and biscuit, a Diet Dr. Pepper, or a sweet snack. Food was one of his love languages, and he was always thinking about what meal came next.
Brady was also a loving son, always checking on his mother-especially right after Wheel of Fortune ended at 6:30. He made sure she was okay and felt loved, just like he did for everyone else in his life.
A proud Trump supporter and loyal Fox News viewer (at full volume, of course), Brady made no apologies for who he was. He lived boldly, loved deeply, and brought energy and purpose into every room he entered.
Brady Joel Johnston will be remembered as a tireless doer, a fierce protector, a loving family man, and someone who always showed up when it mattered. His presence will be deeply missed, but his stories, laughter, and love will live on in all who knew him.
Brady was preceded in death by his parents; George Johnston & Mavis Wallace Johnston, one brother, Ricky Johnston, and one brother-in-law, Leon Dunn. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Gillmore Johnston, son, Brady G. Johnston (Hannah), daughter, Erika Dawson (Joshua), two step-children; Philip M. Bishop (Jackie) and Katy Little (Franky), one brother, Perry Johnston (Shelly), two sisters, Emily Thornhill (Wayne) and Karen Dunn, and thirteen grandchildren; Alana Kendrick, Jacob Tippett, Ashlynn Bishop, Philip M. Bishop Jr, Josie Lee Bishop, Evelynn Rosalee Bishop, Josiah Johnston, Crawford Johnston, Tobias Johnston, Emily Dawson, Caitlyn Dawson, Sawyer Dawson, and JulieAnna Dawson, and his first wife of 24 years, Jill Johnston.
