Officer Branden R.  Swisher, 23, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center, following a short yet courageous battle with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia.

A memorial service to honor Branden’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by Rev. Eric Dougherty. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.

Branden was born on August 8, 2000, at the Cherry Point Naval Hospital in Havelock, NC. He graduated from West Carteret High School with the Class of 2018. During his time there, he actively participated in basketball and football, played in the school band, and was involved with ROTC.

Following graduation, Branden pursued his lifelong goal of becoming a police officer by completing the Basic Law Enforcement Training Course at Carteret Community College in December of 2023. He went on to serve with pride and dedication at the Havelock Police Department.

Time with family was highly valued by Branden who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His passion for fixing cars was only matched by his love for country music, with Luke Combs being his favorite artist. Branden enjoyed the simple pleasures of grilling out and he was always happy to eat a delicious home-cooked meal.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his supportive and loving parents, his mother, Rebecca Swisher of Newport, NC; father, Mike Swisher and wife Amber of Ewa, HI; sister, Ashley Swisher-Arnold and husband Timothy of Newport, NC; brother, Anthoney Swisher and wife Daisy of Havelock, NC; maternal grandparents, Roger and Judy Hoffman of Grafton, WV; paternal grandparents, Michael and Diana Swisher of Grafton, WV; aunt, Judith Johnson-Brumlow of Huntsville, AL; uncle, Roger Hoffman II of Grafton, WV; nieces, Kaylee and Emma; and nephews, Dakota and Theodore.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Havelock Police Department, c/o City of Havelock “Branden Swisher Memorial” on the memo line, 2 Governmental Ave., Havelock, NC 28532.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences.
