Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ramsey Funeral Home & Crematorium on Apr. 18, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we share the sudden passing of Brandon David Gates at his home in
Georgetown, Texas on the evening of April 13, 2025, at the age of 43. He was a man of extraordinary ambition, kindness, and dedication, whose life left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.
Brandon was born on October 12, 1981, to his loving parents Jon G. and Deborah A. Gates in Overland Park, Kansas. He spent his early years in Kansas and Kohler, Wisconsin before moving to Highlands Ranch, Colorado at age four, where he developed strong lifelong friendships. Playing soccer, baseball, and football was central to his childhood, and his father coached many of his teams. He attended ThunderRidge High School, excelling as a gifted three-sport athlete, particularly in baseball, which earned him a scholarship to Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado.
At Otero, Brandon met his future wife, Sarah, formed close bonds with his baseball teammates, and earned an Associate of Arts degree. Later, he graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, laying the foundation for his impressive career.
Professionally, Brandon excelled in partner sales, business development, and enterprise software, most recently at Spectro Cloud. He also held impactful roles at Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Yammer, NewsGator, Quark, and Hewlett-Packard (HP).
Brandon was also an entrepreneur and co-founded GTX Sports Recovery in
Georgetown, Texas, combining his passions for entrepreneurship, sports, and wellness to help athletes in the community. An avid CrossFit enthusiast, Brandon earned certification as a CrossFit coach and coached athletes at BYB Fitness in Georgetown. His sports recovery business and coaching are testaments to his deep dedication to helping others.
He found profound joy in coaching his son Max's youth baseball and football teams. He was equally devoted to attending Macey's soccer, softball, and volleyball games, always coaching and cheering from the sidelines with the boundless energy and dedication he brought to every corner of his life. A passionate cook, Brandon embraced a skill lovingly passed down by his mother and maternal grandmother. He shared a special bond with his father through fishing trips and rooting for their beloved Wisconsin Badgers football and basketball teams. While living in Colorado, Brandon delighted in hiking and snowboarding, finding peace and adventure in nature.
Brandon's personal life was marked by enthusiasm, humor, and an unwavering commitment to lifting others up. His infectious smile and laugh could light up any room. Brandon made life brighter - always ready with a laugh, a helping hand, or a kind word. His absence leaves a void that words cannot begin to fill, and he will be missed beyond measure.
Brandon's love lives on through his children Maxwell and Macey Gates and their mother Sarah Gates; his parents Jon and Deborah Gates; his brother Jeffrey Gates (Linc Howell); his aunt Annette Deutsch (Harris Deutsch); his cousins Erich Reinsch (Catherine Reinsch) and Stephen Reinsch; and his extended family, friends, and colleagues whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Charles and Ruth Bain and his paternal grandparents Wallace and Alice Gates.
We will honor Brandon's rich legacy with a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the Bentwood Texas event venue in
Georgetown, Texas followed by an informal reception where friends and family can come together in love and support. For planning, please share your intention to attend: https://evite.me/BDG
