Brandon Tyler Quinn, one of the kindest, gentlest and most principled souls God ever placed on Earth, died suddenly June 30 at his home in Montrose, Colorado. Brandon, age 52, held a BS degree in biology from the University of Northern Colorado in Greely. He was self-employed.
Brandon’s surviving friends and family all describe him the same way: he was kind and respectful of every person he ever met. He was never heard to utter a word of criticism of any other human being. He was incapable of telling a lie. His honesty and integrity were beyond reproach. He was easy on everyone, and hard on himself. He epitomized all the values people consider to be the standards for human behavior: truthfulness, honesty, integrity, gentleness, kindness, humility, respect, consistency.
While many summaries of a person’s life tend to be filled with mention of past honors, professional accomplishments, social achievements and humanitarian contributions, none of those adequately define who Brandon was as a person. One of his driving ambitions of life was to lift up others, to acknowledge their success and to help guide their paths. He cared nothing about the personal trappings of life. He lived modestly—even frugally. He could survive without food, clothing, and personal comforts better than he could without strong personal relationships with others, which he coveted above all other factors of life.
Outwardly, Brandon was not a religious person. But inwardly, the makeup of the person was precisely what is described in the Beatitudes: Blessed are 1. The poor in spirit 2. Those who mourn 3. The meek 4. Those who thirst for righteousness 5. The merciful 6. The pure of heart 7. The peacemakers 8. The persecuted If these are the personal characteristics necessary to be Blessed,
Brandon is one of the most blessed souls ever to walk the Earth. Never was a person more meek, nor more committed to righteousness, more merciful, more pure of heart, or a greater peacemaker than Brandon. Those of us who are left will mourn his departure.
Brandon is survived by his parents, Randy and Anne Quinn; by two sisters, Amanda Quinn Poundstone and Nicole Quinn Thygesen; stepdaughter Matty Vidulich; two grandchildren; beloved aunt Linda Robertson Bingham; and several nieces and nephews.
Charitable contributions may be sent to the Epilepsy Foundation in Brandon’s honor. For family and friends, a celebration of Brandon’s life will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, at Rancho del Rio, 4199 Trough Road, Bond, CO 80423.
