Brenda Joyce Cope, 74, of Gilmer, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025. She was born on June 11, 1951, in Carrollton, Missouri, to Russell Edward and Mary Virginia (Cochran) Labarge.
Brenda was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose love for life touched everyone around her. She is survived by her beloved children, Cassidy Jennings, Courtney Jenkins and husband Scott, Christopher Cope, and Creighton Cope; and by her treasured grandchildren, Jackson Jennings, Camden Jennings, Gavin Jennings, Cameron Cope, Carter Cope, and Collin Cope.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Mary Virginia Labarge; her sisters, Mary Ann Johnstone and Linda Maxfield; her sister-in-law, Pat Labarge; and her brothers, Jimmy Labarge and Bobby Labarge
Brenda spent many years working for Gilmer ISD as a bus monitor, where she found great joy in working with children. Her caring heart, playful humor, and warm smile made her a favorite among students and staff alike.
Outside of work, Brenda loved spending time with her family and friends-laughing, listening to music, and filling every room with her spunk and sassiness. She had a gift for making people feel loved and at ease, and her memory will forever bring smiles to those who knew her.
Brenda will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her strength, laughter, and the love she shared so freely.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm at 216 Henderson St., Gilmer, Texas 75644.
