Ruben was born on November 13, 1931, in Harleton, Texas, to Elbert Houston Jones and Velma Jewel Shirley Jones, and passed away from this life on October 5, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Ruben married Norma Fay Skipper on January 30, 1953, in Hope, Arkansas. He worked for Justiss Oil Company for 38 years before his retirement. Ruben was a member of Glade Creek Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Norma Jones; daughter, Shree Carpenter; son, Vince Jones and his wife, Leslie; brothers, Curtis Jones, Marshall Jones, and Lonnie Jones; grandchildren, Angela Veitch Long, Kasi Dixon, Jennifer Courtnay, Dustin Jones, Gary M. Jones, Kelcee Hall and Brodey Hall; great grandchildren, Dakota Veitch, Gabby Veitch, Derrick Veitch, Harper Long, Bill Long, Alex Dixon, Zoe Dixon, Ashley Holden, Emily Holden, and Justin Cross; and several great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Velma Jones; son, Gary Michael Jones; son-in-law, Tim Carpenter; and his siblings, Elbert Jones Jr., Fayrene Stanley, Wayne Jones, Opal Pendarvis, Jimmy Jones, Donald Jones, and Larry Jones.
Pallbearers will be Dakota Veitch, Derrick Veitch, Alex Dixon, and Bill Long.
