Brenda Sue Holmes, age 81, of Trenton, GA., passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Her deep love for her family and lively personality will always be remembered.
A funeral service to celebrate Brenda's life will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 12:00 PM in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Chaplain Steve Moore officiating. She will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Park in Bryant, AL.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 16 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 10:00 until the funeral hour.
Brenda cherished spending time with her family, who held a special place in her heart. Known for her sharp wit and sense of humor, she found joy in laughter. Her hobbies included fishing, quilting, gardening, camping, cooking, and playing games like bingo. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Brenda is survived by her children, Beverly Floyd, Jeff (Anne) Mitchell, and Greg (Sandra) Mitchell; sisters, Joyce (Emory) Brown, Shirley McDaniel, and Kathy West; brothers, Jimmy (Judy) Godwin and Jerry (Susan) Godwin; step-children, Danny (Tammy) Holmes, Caleb (Ashlyn) Holmes, Salina (Mark) Gill, and Randy (Angie) Mitchell; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Almer and Dimple Smith Godwin; and husband, Derace Lamar Holmes.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hearth Hospice and the NSICU staff at Memorial for their compassionate care. Special thanks to Joyce Brown and Kathy West for their unwavering love and support during this difficult time.
