It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a truly remarkable woman, Brenda Kay Powers, who left us on January 29, 2025 at the age of 63. Brenda was born in a small Alabama town and later made her home in Panama City, where she raised her two young children.
Brenda's loved ones who have gone before her include her father Ralph Joel Vaughan, her mother Bobbie Carroll, her longtime partner Randy Harmon and her beloved dog Trouble. However, Brenda's legacy lives on through the cherished memories she leaves behind with her son William, his wife Jamie, and her grandchildren Madison and Levi, as well as her daughter Jennifer and grandchildren Mackenzie and Timmy. Brenda is also survived by her brother Randy Vaughn, his sons Stacie and Jason, and her sister Leslie Lynn Hallman, her husband JD, and their son Kenny. Brenda's sister-in-law Marilyn Holland and her husband Jim have been a constant source of support and companionship for Brenda and her children over the years.
After the passing of her partner Randy, Brenda found solace and friendship in her longtime friend Debbi Berthod and son Patrick, with whom she shared a home. Brenda also rekindled her bond with her cousin Betty, and they enjoyed each other's company during Betty's annual visits to the beautiful beaches of Panama City. Brenda's furry family members, including BooBoo Kitty, Molly, and Cocoa, will also deeply miss her presence and affection. Though Brenda's physical form has departed, the indelible mark she has left on the hearts of her loved ones will ensure that her spirit lives on forever.
Brenda was a remarkable individual with a heart of gold. She had a profound impact on those around her, often going above and beyond to support her friends and even complete strangers. Whether it was offering rides, lending a hand with moving tasks, or simply providing a listening ear, Brenda's kindness and generosity knew no bounds. Brenda's passions were diverse and eclectic. She was a devoted fan of music, particularly Taylor Swift, and a die-hard supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, especially the legendary quarterback Joe Montana. Her love for the written word was evident in her extensive collection of books, her well-used Kendall subscription and she found solace and joy in the companionship of her beloved cats and dogs, as well as nurturing her thriving plants. However, Brenda's greatest source of happiness and fulfillment came from her cherished family – her children and grandchildren. They were the center of her universe, and the love she shared with them was a testament to the depth of her heart. Sadly, Brenda's passing has left a void in the lives of all who knew her. Her beautiful smile and the sparkling light in her eyes will be deeply missed.
To celebrate her remarkable life, a special event has been planned for February 22, 2025, at 12 Noon, at the Grace Fellowship Church, 117 N. Hwy 22A (formerly called Bob Little Rd),
Panama City, Florida. All are welcome to gather and remember the extraordinary woman who touched so many lives with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering spirit.
