Brenda Colleen Pruitt 76 of Vincennes, Indiana passed away at home Monday January 20, 2025. She was born Brenda Colleen Kelly on October 29, 1948 in Vincennes Indiana to Ralph and Ruby Kelly.
She attended St. Johns Catholic School, Decker Chapel, Mount Olympus and graduated from Princeton High School. She met Robert Pruitt at Vincennes University and they married on Thanksgiving Day 1968 in Walhalla, South Carolina. They had one daughter, Tracy.
Brenda worked at Browns Shoe Company in Vincennes, a cashier at a Winnemucca Nevada casino and was a counselor with NASAP at the Naval Air Station Meridian, Mississippi. She was a member of the Navy Wives Club where she contributed and helped organize many fundraisers, charities and events. She was a fantastic military wife and mother, dealing with many moves and anything else thrown her way. Around 1980 she made Queen in Topps in the Alaskan chapter. In recent years she had also served as Queen in the Red Hat Society in Camby, Indiana. Her hobbies were reading, sewing, gardening, and genealogy.
Brenda was a wonderful mom and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Washburn Kelly and Ruby Marie (Henson)Kelly; her siblings Bob Kelly, Vernon Kelly, Jim Kelly, John Kelly, Bill Kelly, Paul Kelly, Patricia Blessinger, and Sandra Fredrick.
Brenda is survived by her husband Robert David Pruitt , Vincennes Indiana; daughter Tracy Woolard and son in-law John Frank Woolard Jr., Freelandville, Indiana; grandchildren John Codey Woolard (Madison Pullian) Bruceville, Indiana; Joshua Woolard (Kayla) Bicknell,Indiana; and Chloe Woolard, Freelandville, Indiana; great grand children Ford Woolard, Gatlin Woolard and Ada Woolard; her sisters Margarie Young, Judith Lucas and Sherry Otten, and many nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved puppies Ralphy & Ruby who have not left her side.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home with the funeral service starting at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Royal Oak Cemetery. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care of Brenda.
