Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services - AndersonJay Brian Richards, age 67, of Anderson, Indiana, entered into Glory on October 29, 2025. He was born on May 15, 1958, in Anderson. Jay graduated from Anderson High School and went on to earn his associate degree from Vincennes University. He lived in Anderson for most of his life, though his career as an electrician allowed him to travel and put his skills to use in many places.
Jay had a heart for serving others. He lovingly cared for his mother, Doris, and was always willing to lend a hand wherever needed. He was very active with Special Olympics, spending time with and supporting his friends there—something that brought him great joy. Jay was a devoted to his beloved dogs, Sarge and Newton. In recent years, his greatest blessing was becoming a grandfather and welcoming his granddaughter, Cordelia, into his life. Jay was a member of Main Street Church of God in Anderson, IN.
Jay is survived by his mother, Doris Richards; daughter Allison (Josh) Byrge; granddaughter Cordelia Byrge; Uncle Rodger (Nancy) Thompson; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Arlene Thompson.
Legacy Cremation & Funeral Home is honored to care for Jay and his family during this time. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 6th at 1:00 PM at New London Cemetery in Russiaville, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, in Jay's memory, donations can be made to Main Street Church of God 4211 Main St. Anderson, IN 46013
