Brenda Whalen, 76, of Versailles, Kentucky, passed away on October 9, 2025, in Lexington at Baptist Health, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hazard, Kentucky on June 4, 1949, to the late Ernest and Garnett Feltner, Brenda lived life with a big heart, a sharp wit, and an even sharper shopping eye. Married for 25 years to her devoted husband, Carl Whalen Jr., Brenda loved her family with every ounce of her being-especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Brenda had an eye for style and a true love for all things beautiful. She enjoyed fashion and decorating, always finding joy in creating warm, inviting spaces that reflected her vibrant personality. Shopping was one of her favorite pastimes, and she could often be found tuning into QVC, where she loved discovering new treasures and keeping up with the latest trends. Her sense of style and flair for decorating brought joy not only to her own home but to everyone who knew her. Brenda's faith in her Lord and Savior was strong. She was a former member of Alton Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.
She leaves behind not only her loving husband, Carl, but her children-Denver (Monica) Sumner of Danville, Kyle (Cari) Whalen of Lexington, Kari (Danny) Boone of Versailles, and Stefani (James) Davis of Mt. Washington-along with 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.
A celebration of Brenda's life will be held at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., where laughter, stories, and a few good snacks (in true Brenda fashion) will be shared. Brenda loved deeply, with a generous heart and a caring spirit that touched everyone she met. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and leave messages of condolence here on Brenda's tribute wall at www.BlackburnandWard.com.
