Brian Leonard Couture

Brian Leonard Couture, 64, of Belmont, passed away on December 18, 2021 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born on July 14, 1957 to the late Arthur Joseph Couture and Rita Antoinette Ferland Couture. He is also preceded in death by sisters, Barbara Perrino and Lyndelle Clarke, and brother, Bruce Couture. Brian was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church. He was the owner of Planet Recycling Inc. which he founded in 1995 and was voted 2015 "Recycler of the Year" by Mecklenburg County. He was also a member of the North Carolina Recycling Association and WOW (Wipe Out Waste) Ambassador of Mecklenburg County. Brian loved all sports and was a die hard Yankees baseball fan. He also loved vintage cars. Brian will be remembered for his sense of humor and he was affectionately known as "Yankee Boy" on WFNZ Sports Channel.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Nancy DelGiudice Couture; son, Brendan Lee Couture and wife Shannon; daughter, Bridgette "Lily" Couture; mother in law, Marylyn DeFendis. Sister, Leslie Levy and husband Lawrence; grandchildren, Damien and Mavis; brothers-in-laws; James and Dennis DelGiudice as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service is planned in his honor on Earth Day, Friday April 22nd, 2022 at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services located at 101 Oak Grove St., Mt. Holly, NC 28120. A Celebration of his life is also planned for the same weekend. Specific details to follow.
