Pyne Keohane Funeral Home - HinghamBrian Peter Downey died unexpectedly July 24, 2025 at his home in Abington Ma. He was the son of William F. Downey Sr. and Katherine(Kate) A. Downey and brother of William F. Downey Jr.
Brian was born April 5, 1955 in Boston and graduated from Hingham High School Class of 1973. He went on to Ripon College In Wisconsin and graduated in 1977 with a degree in History.
He was a longtime resident of Hingham Ma and worked for National Grid for more than twenty years. Brian was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed attending field days and interacting with fellow Ham operators with his father. He supported Ripon College and established a student scholarship fund. In addition he donated to Hingham Public Library and the Business school at Northeastern University.
Brian is predeceased by his parents and nephew Billy Downey Jr. He was a longtime Boston sports fans attending Red Sox Bruins and Patriots games with his brother. He is survived by his brother William and wife Christine Downey.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 8/20/2025 from 9:00-11:00 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Burial at St. Paul's Cemetery in Hingham will follow.
