Charles Lincoln Bacon, Sr., of Hingham, passed away on Thursday, July 10th, following a courageous five-year battle with health issues, during which he displayed his characteristic quiet strength and brave endurance. He was a devoted husband and best friend to the love of his life, Jennifer, his wife of 25 years.

Chuck was born to the late Ronald and Janice Bacon. He was the beloved brother of the late Allan Bacon, Laurie Martin (Richard), of North Carolina, and Carolyn Antoine of Hingham. He was the proud and loving father of Charles Bacon, Jr. of Florida, and Sarah Dhooge (Mark) of Hingham.

Known affectionately as "Papa," Chuck was an adoring and hands on grandfather to MaKenzie, Jillian, Sean, and Georgia, and a joyful great-grandfather to Liliana, Wesley, Natalia, and Elias. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews along with sister and brother-in-law's who were a never-ending source of support and strength throughout his health challenges.

A proud lifelong resident of Hingham, Chuck began his career at Gelo's Auto shortly after graduating from Hingham High School. From there he moved on to Best Chevrolet. He poured his heart into the Hingham community, spending countless seasons coaching youth baseball, where he not only taught the game but also inspired young players with his patience and positivity.

Chuck dedicated his life to helping others with humility, commitment, and integrity. He served with distinction on the Hingham Fire Department for 35 years as both a Firefighter and EMT. Throughout his distinguished career, he received numerous department commendations, made a difference by educating young people on fire prevention, and through his dedication and skill, rose to the rank of Master Mechanic.

In addition to his service as a firefighter, Chuck owned and operated his own contracting business, C.L. Bacon Remodeling, where he showcased his exceptional craftsmanship and talent in woodworking and construction. His passion for the trade was evident in every project, as he continued to serve his community with the same dedication and care that defined every aspect of his life.

Chucks love of nature was lifelong and deeply rooted, and while he was a Hinghamite through and through, he also fondly recalled childhood summers spent outdoors with family in Alabama. He enjoyed long walks with Jennifer along Popponesset Beach, where he spent his entire life appreciating and maintaining his cherished family cottage in Mashpee.

Chuck found joy in countless activities- often going out to restaurants with Jennifer and friends, running the Hingham 4th of July road race, operating the Cohasset Recreation foam day, or simply spending time with his grandchildren by the pool. At the same time, he embraced life's adventures and opportunities with open arms and excitement, especially those shared with Jennifer, his cherished family, and his dear friends. Chuck loved being on his boat, spending evenings out on the water watching the sunset. His connection to the ocean had been with him since childhood; he was a navigator by nature.

Chuck was a man of service, an original soul, and a mighty heart - steadfast, generous, and unforgettable. His presence was a gift, his absence an ache. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving him.

A memorial service will be held at the Hingham Congregational Church, 378 Main Street (Rt. 228), Hingham, MA 02043, on Tuesday, July 22nd, at 11:00 AM.
