Brian C. Hodge, age 56, passed away at the South Eastern Veterans Center, in Spring City on September 7, 2023. Born on December 7, 1966 in Pottstown, PA, he was the 5th child and 4th son of Donald G. and the late Nancy (Schwarz) Hodge.
In addition to his mother, Brian was predeceased by his sister: Tammi Lynn; brother: Tim; and beloved grandparents: Fred and Eva Schwarz.
Brian graduated from Spring-Ford High School in 1985 and joined the Navy where he served for 20 years including a deployment during the First Gulf War in 1991. Brian served on several aircraft carriers as a nuclear propulsion supervisor and is a plank owner on the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74.) Brian became a Shellback, a distinction he shares with his father and grandfather.
Brian's life of service continued as a rescue squad volunteer and paramedic for the Davis Corner Fire Department in Virginia Beach for over 20 years. When he wasn't serving his country or his community, Brian enjoyed his downtime. He was a fierce Monopoly player, enjoyed listening to his music, which never seemed to make it past the 80's, going to Yankee games with crazy people (i.e. family,) visits with Santa, and, unbeknownst to his father, secretly cheering for Army during the annual Army-Navy game (we're kidding!)
In addition to his father, Brian leaves behind his brothers: Terry (Kathy) and Jeff (Joanne); several nieces and nephews; as well as dozens of family and friends from Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Indiana, Virginia and of course, Pennsylvania, who have all been incredible during this difficult time. Brian was well loved and will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:00 am at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA. Interment will follow in the Fernwood Cemetery, Royersford. Friends will be received from 9:00 - 10:00 am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to New York-Presbyterian Hospital at "NewYork-Presbyterian Fund Inc." c/o NewYork-Presbyterian Office of Development, 850 Third Avenue 12th Floor, New York, NY 10022, https://www.nyp.org/giving or the South Eastern Veterans Center Residents' Welfare Fund in acknowledgement of their support, love and compassion to Brian at SEVC Residents' Welfare Fund, One Veterans Dr., Spring City, PA 19475.

You may now trade in your seabag for a cross. You are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow navy veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The carrier has turned into the wind preparing for your final launch. The plank is in place and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation“s defender. Smooth sailing shipmate. A Navy Vietnam Veteran.
