Rob Gorman passed away at Phoenixville Hospital on November 24 th, 2024.
Rob attended Furman School as a day student and later was enrolled at the Old Forge
School, and later still, attended St. Edmonds. Rob went to Pennhurst in 1973 where he
met his lifelong friend and housemate, Bill. He moved into his current home in
Collegeville with Bill in 1980.
Rob was known for his smile and friendly personality. He always made people feel so
comfortable in his home. He would tell everyone they were the best person who ever
did that job and that all of his staff deserved a raise. He also always asked visitors if
they wanted to stay for dinner. Rob enjoyed parties and spending time with friends and
family. He also loved going to camp and looked forward to his time at camp each year.
Rob was very close with his family despite the miles that separated them. He looked
forward to their visits and phone calls. Rob would tell everyone what his brothers and
sisters were doing after he spoke to them on the phone. He also showed off the cards
they sent every birthday and Christmas.
Rob attended the Bon Homie day program for many years. He had many friends at Bon
Homie and served at the Client Council President. Rob enjoyed the talent shows.
During group sing-alongs, he loved to sing Jesus Loves Me at the top of his lungs. He
enjoyed leading exercises for his friends in the Sunroom and always had a smile - he
never complained. Secretly, he loved to gossip!
Rob was also very spiritual. He would often ask people to read the bible with him in his
home. Rob was an active member of Valley Forge Baptist Church where he served as
a Sunday school teacher's aide. He assisted with vacation bible school every year.
Rob had many good friends from church who would visit him at his home. He looked
forward to their visits and phone calls.
Rob is survived by his sisters Patricia McAnany (John), Donna Miller (James), Marianne
Iasillo (Thomas) and brothers Kurt Gorman (Caroline), Michael Gorman, and James
Gorman (Shannon June), plus 12 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his
parents Robert and Mary (Racek) Gorman and one brother Mark Gorman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Rob was a dear sweet man who wore his heart on his sleeve. He was funny and smart. He didn't like to see anyone hurt or sad. He was a wonderful man and will be missed. One of a kind, a true blessing to all that knew him. He holds a special place in my heart.
